Drive-In Services!

Bureau Township Community Church

What are we doing for church services?

  • Starting on June 7, we are having drive-in services on the back-parking lot of BTCC.

  • At this time we will not be having Sunday School or Fellowship time following the service.

When are we meeting?

  • Our worship service will begin at 9 am.

  • We encourage you to arrive 5-10 minutes before the service begins. It is hard to sneak a vehicle into a drive-in service 😉

Where are we meeting?

  • We are gathering in the back-parking lot of Bureau Township Community Church. (The east side of the building).

  • We will have speakers set-up, and an FM transmitter will be used to broadcast to your car radio.

Why are we meeting outside?

  • Online and drive-in services are currently considered the safest options for worship services. A drive-in service, with some basic guidelines, provides a chance for our church to meet with a low risk of infection.

Can I leave my vehicle?

  • Yes. You can leave your vehicle, set up some lawn chairs, lay out a blanket, etc. We would ask that you follow the basic safety guidelines outlined in the next question.

What can I do to help make our gathering safe for everyone?

  • Even though we are meeting outdoors, there is still a small risk of infection involved. In order to reduce that risk, we are asking our church family to follow a few basic guidelines if possible.

  • We encourage you to wear a mask.

    • According to the CDC: Face coverings are most essential when social distancing is difficult. Note: Cloth face coverings should not be placed on children younger than 2 years old, anyone who has trouble breathing or is unconscious, and anyone who is incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the cloth face covering without assistance. Cloth face coverings are meant to protect other people in case the wearer is unknowingly infected but does not have symptoms.

  • We encourage you to follow social-distancing guidelines.

    • Maintain 6 feet of distance from others at all times, including parked vehicles.

    • Members of the same household may be seated together but should maintain at least six feet apart from other households.

  • We encourage you to avoid handshakes, hugs, or similar greetings that break physical distancing guidelines.

    • Please stay home if you or someone in your household has recently tested positive for COVID-19 or are exhibiting any symptoms of illness.

What if I do not feel comfortable leaving my home at this time?

  • That’s ok! We will continue to post a modified worship service online on Sunday mornings. Please see our website bureautownshipcommunitychurch.org for more information.

What if I am in the higher-risk category?

  • Did you know that according to the CDC: “Based on currently available information and clinical expertise, older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. This group includes:

  • People 65 years and older.

  • People who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility.

  • People of all ages with underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, including: People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma, people who have serious heart conditions, people who are immunocompromised, people with severe obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 40 or higher), people with diabetes, people.”

  • If you are a part of this group, we ask that you carefully consider your situation.

  • If you need permission to stay home, you have it.

  • If you feel that you should attend our in-person service, you may.

  • Please know that others in a similar situation may decide differently.

Will the church building be open?

  • Yes, the church building will be open, but only for access to the restrooms. We ask that you refrain from coming inside unless it is necessary.

Will bathrooms be available?

  • Yes. The church building will be open for people to use the restroom if needed.

How long will we be following this plan?

  • At least for a few weeks. A team of leaders are evaluating each step of the process and we will be adjusting as necessary. Various guidelines are being consulted in order to make the best decisions for our church.

Will we be taking an offering?

  • We will not be passing any plates, but an offering box will be available. You can also continue to give online at bureautownshipcommunitychurch.org

What if there is bad weather?

  • We will have a service, but it may be even more limited. In the case of rain we will still be able to broadcast over the FM transmitter.

  • Please watch our website and facebook page for any important changes. We will also utilize the phone tree if we need to make church-wide changes.
